□ 서울시 북촌문화센터는 정월 대보름을 맞아 ‘계동마님댁 정월 대보름 맞이’ 행사로 ‘달집태우기 체험’ 비대면 프로그램을 운영한다.

○ 정월 대보름은 한 해의 첫 보름달이 뜨는 날로 음력 1월 15일(’21.2.26.)에 지내는 우리나라의 명절이다. 농경사회에서 보름달은 풍요를 상징했기 때문에, 정월 대보름은 추석이나 설날만큼 중요한 명절로 여겨졌다.

□ 정월 대보름에는 달집태우기, 부럼깨기, 지신밟기 등 다양한 세시풍속을 즐기며 액운을 막고 한해의 풍요와 복을 빌었는데, 달집태우기는 가장 널리 행해진 풍속 중 하나로 나뭇더미를 쌓아 달집을 짓고 정화(淨化)의 의미로 불태우며 질병과 근심이 없는 밝은 한 해를 기원하는 의식이다.

□ 정월 대보름 세시풍속 체험을 위해 북촌문화센터에서는 한 해의 액운을 날리고 풍요를 기원하는 ‘달집태우기 체험 꾸러미’를 발송한다. 이번 체험 꾸러미는 북촌의 한옥 양초공방과의 협업으로 제작되었다.

○ ‘달집 태우기 체험 꾸러미’ : ‘달집태우기 체험 꾸러미’는 비즈시트*와 부럼, 나뭇가지, 솔가지 등으로 구성되어 있다. 비즈시트로 달집 모양의 초를 만들고, 부럼과 나뭇가지, 솔가지 등으로 장식한 후 초에 불을 붙이면 나만의 달집태우기를 체험해볼 수 있다.

* 비즈시트 : 비즈왁스(밀랍)를 벌집 모양의 시트로 가공한 제품. 양초를 만들 때 왁스를 가열하여 녹이고 다시 굳히는 과정을 생략할 수 있는 재료

 □ 체험 꾸러미 신청은 서울한옥포털 홈페이지(http://hanok.seoul.go.kr), 북촌문화센터 사회관계망(인스타그램, 페이스북)을 통해 23일(화) 10:00~
18:00까지 접수하며, 추첨을 통해 100명에게 우편 발송할 예정이다. 문의는 북촌문화센터(☎02-741-1033)로 하면 된다.

□ 한편, 사회적 거리두기가 2단계로 완화됨에 따라 서울 공공한옥의 현장·대면 프로그램이 인원제한 조건 하에 순차적으로 재개된다. 북촌문화센터의 경우 정월 대보름 당일인 26일(금)과 27일(토) 방문하면 자유·해설관람이 가능하고 널뛰기, 투호 등 전통놀이도 체험해볼 수 있다. 현장 프로그램 재개 일정 및 내용은 공공한옥마다 상이하므로, 방문 또는 체험 참여를 희망하는 시설에 개별 확인이 필요하다.

□ 류훈 서울시 도시재생실장은 “코로나로 어려운 시기여서 세시풍속에 담긴 지혜와 위로가 더 뜻깊게 다가온다”며, “가족과 함께 보름달처럼 풍요롭고 희망 가득한 한 해를 기원하는 시간이 되시기를 바란다”고 말했다.

□ The Bukchon Cultural Center in Seoul operates a non-face-to-face program as an event for “Gye-dong Mother's House to Greet Daeboreum in the New Year” in celebration of the New Year's Day.

○ New Year's Day Daeboreum is a Korean holiday that is celebrated on the 15th of the lunar calendar (January 26th, Feb. 26) when the first full moon of the year rises.  Since the full moon symbolized abundance in the agricultural society, the New Year's Day Daeboreum was considered as an important holiday as Chuseok or New Year's Day.

During the Lunar New Year, during the Lunar New Year, people enjoyed various customs, such as burning the moon, breaking the rock, and stepping on the earth.  It is a ritual that is burned with meaning and wishes for a bright year without diseases and worries.

□ For the New Year's Day, the Bukchon Cultural Center sends out a “moon-burning experience package” to pray for abundance and bad luck in the year.  This experience package was produced in collaboration with the Hanok Candle Workshop in Bukchon.

○ “Daljip Burning Experience Package”: The “Daljip Burning Experience Package” is composed of a biz sheet*, a burum, a tree branch, and a pine tree branch.  You can experience burning your own moon house by making a candle in the shape of a moon house with a bead sheet, decorating it with bushes, twigs, and pine trees, and lighting the candle.

* Bees sheet : A product obtained by processing bees wax (beeswax) into a honeycomb-shaped sheet.  Ingredients that can eliminate the process of melting and re-hardening by heating wax when making candles

□ Application for the experience package is from 10:00 on the 23rd (Tue) through the Seoul Hanok Portal website (http://hanok.seoul.go.kr) and the Bukchon Cultural Center's social network (Instagram, Facebook).
 It will be accepted by 18:00 and will be mailed to 100 people through lottery.  For inquiries, contact the Bukchon Cultural Center (☎02-741-1033).

On the other hand, as social distancing has been eased to two stages, the on-site and face-to-face programs of Seoul public hanok will be resumed sequentially under the condition of the number of people.  In the case of the Bukchon Cultural Center, visitors can visit the 26th (Fri) and 27th (Sat) on the day of the Daeboreum of the New Year, and you can enjoy free and commentary viewing, and you can also experience traditional games such as running jump and tuho.  Since on-site program resumption schedules and contents are different for each public hanok, individual confirmation is required at the facility where you wish to visit or participate in the experience.

□ Hoon Ryu, head of the Urban Regeneration Office of Seoul, said, “It is a difficult time due to corona, so the wisdom and comfort contained in the three-time customs come to us more meaningfully.
