허성무 창원시장, 미얀마 군부를 향해 “꽃샘추위는 봄을 이기지 못해”

3‧15의거 61주년 앞두고 민주주의 갈망하는 미얀마 국민 위로

허성무 창원시장은 10일 미얀마 국민들을 향해 위로의 메시지를 전했다. 미얀마는 현재 지난 2월 1일 군부가 기습 쿠데타를 벌이고 아웅산 수지 국가고문 등 정부 고위 인사들이 구금된 후 혼란을 겪고 있다. 

허 시장은 “3‧15의거 61주년을 며칠 앞두고 민주주의의 소중함을 되새겨야 할 시기에 하루가 멀다 하고 유혈사태가 벌어지고 있는 미얀마 소식에 가슴이 아프다”며 “우리도 과거 독재정권에 맞서 싸워보았기에 미얀마 국민들의 고통을 외면할 수 없다”고 말했다. 

이어 “대한민국 민주화 역사의 심장인 창원시의 시장으로서 미얀마 국민들을 지지하고 응원한다”고 덧붙였다. 허 시장은 미얀마 군부의 쿠데타를 꽃샘추위에 빗대 “꽃샘추위가 제 아무리 매섭다 한들 이미 다가온 봄을 밀어내지는 못한다. 바람은 곳 멈출 것이고 태양은 온 대지에 생명을 불어넣을 것”이라고 말했다. 

한편 창원시의회는 9일 본회의를 열고 김종대 의원의 발의로 ‘미얀마 군부 쿠데타 규탄 및 민주화 원상회복 촉구 결의문’을 채택했다. 

다음은 허 시장의 메시지 전문이다. 

며칠 후면 3‧15의거 61주년입니다. 
우리가 누리는 민주주의의 소중함을 되새겨야 할 시기에 
하루가 멀다 하고 유혈사태가 벌어지고 있는 
미얀마 소식을 들으니, 가슴이 매우 아픕니다. 

우리도 독재정권에 맞서 싸워보았기에 
그 공포를 누구보다 잘 알고 있습니다. 
이 땅의 민주주의가 피로 얼룩진 희생의 대가였음을 알기에 
미얀마 국민들의 고통을 외면할 수 없습니다. 

저는 대한민국 민주화 역사의 심장인 창원시의 시장으로서 
민주주의를 갈망하는 미얀마 국민들을 
온 마음으로 지지하고, 응원합니다. 

꽃샘추위가 제 아무리 매섭다 한들 
이미 다가온 봄을 밀어내지는 못합니다. 
바람은 곧 멈출 것이고 
태양은 온 대지에 생명을 불어넣을 것입니다. 

미얀마 군부는, 국민의 지지가 없는 정부는 
존립이 불가능하다는 사실을 알고 
겸허히 국민의 선택을 받아들여야 할 것입니다. 

그리하여 머지않은 시일 내에 
미얀마에도 평화와 자유, 민주주의가 깃들길 바랍니다. 

봄은 오고 있습니다.

This is a message sent to the people of Myanmar from Republic of Korea, Mayor Hur Seong-moo, Changwon.  We send a message of support to the people of Myanmar, asking for comfort and strength.

Republic of Korea, Changwon Mayor Hur Seong-moo delivered a message of consolation to the people of Myanmar on the 10th. Myanmar is currently experiencing confusion on February 1, after the military conducted a surprise coup & high-ranking government officials, including state advisor Aung San Suu Kyi, were detained.

Mayor Hur said, A few days ahead of the 61st anniversary of the March 15th, a day is far away, and the news of Myanmar is a bloodshed. He said, We cannot ignore the suffering of the people.

He added, We support & support the people of Myanmar as the mayor of Changwon City, the heart of the history of democratization in Republic of Korea. Mayor Hur compared the coup of the Myanmar military to the flower spring cold, No matter how hot the flower spring is, it cannot push away the spring that has already come. The wind will stop & the sun will bring life to the whole earth.

Meanwhile, the Changwon City Council held a plenary meeting on the 9th & adopted the Resolution to Condemn the Military Coup in Myanmar & Call for the Restoration of Democratization at the initiative of Rep. Jong-Dae Kim.

The following is the full text of Mayor Hur's message.

It will be the 61st anniversary of March 15th in a few days.
When we need to remember the preciousness of our democracy
The day is far & the bloodshed is going on
Hearing the news of Myanmar, my heart hurts very much.

Because we also fought against the dictatorship
We know that fear better than anyone else. Knowing that the democracy of this land was the price of blood-stained sacrifice
The suffering of the people of Myanmar cannot be ignored.

As the mayor of Changwon Myanmar people who yearn for democracy
We support & support with all our heart.

No matter how hot my flower spring is
It cannot push away the spring that has already come.
The wind will soon stop
The sun will bring life to the whole earth.

Myanmar's military, the government without the support of the people,
Knowing that it is impossible to exist
You will have to humbly accept the people's choices.

So in the near future
May peace, freedom, and democracy in Myanmar.

Spring is coming.
