<At around 10 p.m. on October 29, the death toll increased to 156, including foreigners, in an accident at the Itaewon Halloween Festival in Seoul, South Korea, & 100~180 people were injured>

As of 6 am on the 30th, 154 people were confirmed dead in the Itaewon Halloween crushing accident that occurred on the 29th.  76 people were injured.  With this, a total of 227 people were killed or injured in the accident.  With the number of serious injuries, the death toll is expected to rise.

Yongsan Fire Chief Choi Seong-beom held a final press briefing at 6:30 a.m. on the same day and said, "Two of the injured have been converted into dead, and some of the injured have returned home."

The fire department is expecting the death toll to increase as 21 of the injured are seriously injured, such as receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Yongsan Fire Chief Choi Seong-beom explained that the accident was presumed to be a large-scale crushing accident that occurred when a large number of people fell while crowds gathered around 119-7 Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

The fire department set up a missing person reception desk on the 3rd floor of the Hannam-dong Community Service Center in Yongsan-gu, Seoul around 4:30 am on the same day.  After confirming all the identities of the deceased, the fire department will notify the family and others in a lump sum.

10월 29일 밤 10시 30, 한국 서울 이태원 핼러윈 축제 압사사고로 외국인 포함 사망자156명으로 늘어 부상100~150명 10월 29일 밤 10시 30 발생한 이태원 핼러윈 압사 사고로 30일 오전 6시 기준 149명이 숨진 것으로 확인됐다. 부상자는 100~180여명으로 집계됐다. 이로써 이번 사고로 숨지거나 다친 사람은 총 227명으로 나타났다. 중상자가 많아 사망자는 더 늘어날 것으로 보인다.

최성범 용산소방서장은 이날 오전 6시30분께 최종 언론 브리핑을 열고 "부상자 중 중상자 2명이 사망자로 전환됐고, 부상자 중 귀가한 인원이 발생했다"며 이같이 밝혔다.

부상자 중 (CPR)심폐소생술 등을 받는 중상자가 수백명이어서 사망자는 더 늘어날 것으로 소방당국은 보고 있다.피해자 대부분이 10~20대이며 외국인 사망자는 다수라고 밝히고, 외국인 부상자는 15여명이라고 최성범 소방서장은 밝혔다.

사고는 서울 용산구 이태원동 119-7 일대에 인파가 몰린 상황에서 다수가 넘어지면서 발생한 대규모 압사 사고로 추정된다고 최성범 용산소방서장은 설명했다.

소방당국은 이날 오전 4시30분께 서울 용산구 한남동주민센터 3층에 실종자 접수처를 마련했다.경찰은 사망자의 지문인식 등 신원 조회 절차에 나섰다. 소방당국은 경찰의 협조받아 사망자의 신원을 모두 확인한 후에 가족 등에게  통보할 예정이다고 밝혔습니다.
