[이재명 대통령과 앤소니 알바니지 호주 총리와 정상회담 포토]

김홍이/Alexander Utt. 기자=이재명 대통령은 30일 취임 후 벌써 두 번째 정상회담이라 그런지 꼭 가까운 친구를 맞이하는 기분으로 앤소니 알바니지 호주 총리와 만남을 가졌습니다.

호주는 자유 진영의 일원으로서, 또 ‘포괄적 전략 동반자’로서 역내 안정과 번영에 함께 기여하고 있는 대한민국의 ‘멀지만 가까운’ 이웃입니다.

양국은 지금까지 쌓아온 굳건한 협력 관계를 토대로, 앞으로 국방･방산, 교역･투자, 핵심 광물, 청정에너지 등 제반 분야에서 협력을 강화하기로 손을 맞잡았습니다.

한반도 평화처럼 한국과 호주가 함께 대응해야 할 과제가 많이 있습니다. 더욱 긴밀히 소통하며 지역 및 글로벌 차원에서 끈끈한 공조를 이어가겠습니다.

I had a meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese during his visit to Korea. It was our second summit meeting since I took office, and it truly felt like welcoming a close friend.

Australia is a “distant yet close” neighbor of the Republic of Korea, contributing together to regional stability and prosperity as a member of the free world and a Comprehensive Strategic Partner.

Building on the strong foundation of cooperation we have established so far, our two countries agreed to further strengthen collaboration across a wide range of areas, including defense and the defense industry, trade and investment, critical minerals, and clean energy.

There are many challenges—such as establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula—that Korea and Australia need to work together on. We will continue to communicate closely and deepen our coordination at both the regional and global levels.
