UAE 현지시간 17일 오후, 이재명 대통령 과 김혜경 여사가 아부다비 공항에 도착했다. UAE 정부는 한국 대통령을 위해 전투기 4대가 공군 1호기를 호위하는 대규모 환영식을 마련했다.

순방 첫날인 17일에는 ▲UAE 현충원 방문 ▲초대 대통령 영묘 참배 ▲그랜드 모스크 방문 등을 진행했으며, 저녁에는 재외동포 및 UAE 진출 기업인들을 위한 만찬을 개최했다.

한-UAE 정상회담 및 협력 약속

18일에는 공식 환영식과 모하메드 빈 자이드 알 나흐얀 UAE 대통령과의 정상회담이 열렸다. 양 정상은 이 자리에서 인공지능, 방위산업, 문화 등 다양한 분야에서의 협력을 강화하기 위한 양해각서(MOU)를 체결했다.

이재명 대통령은 "UAE는 한국의 아랍 진출을 위한 '베이스캠프'로서 양국의 공동 번영을 위한 새로운 길을 열어가자"고 강조했다.

경제 협력 논의

19일에는 한-UAE 비즈니스 라운드테이블을 통해 양국 기업인들과의 경제 협력 확대 방안을 논의한다. 이후 이집트로 이동해 압델 파타 엘시시 대통령과의 정상회담 등 공식 방문 일정을 소화할 예정이다.

이번 순방은 이재명 대통령이 지난 6월 취임 이후 첫 해외 순방으로, G20 정상회의를 앞두고 한국의 외교적 위상을 높이고 경제 협력을 확대하는 중요한 외교 일정으로 평가받고 있는것으로 알려졌다.

On the afternoon of the 17th, UAE local time, President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung arrived at Abu Dhabi Airport. The UAE government prepared a large-scale welcoming ceremony for the South Korean president, with four fighter jets escorting Air Force One.

On the first day of the visit, the 17th, the president visited the UAE National Cemetery, paid tribute to the tomb of the first president, and visited the Grand Mosque. In the evening, a dinner was held for overseas Koreans and businesspeople operating in the UAE.

Korea-UAE Summit and Cooperation Pledge

On the 18th, an official welcoming ceremony was held and a summit with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was held. The two leaders signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen cooperation in various fields, including artificial intelligence, the defense industry, and culture.

President Lee Jae-myung emphasized, "The UAE serves as a 'base camp' for Korea's advancement into the Arab region, and let us open a new path for the shared prosperity of our two countries."

Discussion of Economic Cooperation

On the 19th, the ROK-UAE Business Roundtable will discuss ways to expand economic cooperation with businesspeople from both countries. Afterwards, the president will travel to Egypt for an official visit, including a summit with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

This visit marks President Lee Jae-myung's first overseas trip since taking office in June, and is seen as a key diplomatic milestone, aimed at enhancing Korea's diplomatic standing and expanding economic cooperation ahead of the G20 Summit.
