<South Korean President Moon Jae-in & US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are entering the meeting room>

President Moon Jae-in of Republic of Korea, who is on an official visit to the United States, met with House leaders including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi & held a meeting at the Washington Capitol on the afternoon of the 20th.

Chairman Pelosi said, It is a great pleasure to have President Moon this way. Expressed the joy of meeting President Moon again.

In particular, House Speaker Pelosi pulled out the New Year's greeting card sent by President Moon Jae-in this year, and said, I keep it because it is very pretty. The text in the content that says that I work tirelessly for the peace & prosperity of mankind was also touching.

Therefore President Moon Jae-in met with House Speaker Pelosi at the U.S. Capitol & asked for support from the U.S. Congress for the development of the Republic of Korean - United States of American alliance, peace on the Korean Peninsula, and reciprocal cooperation, and exchanged opinions on various pending issues, including response to COVID-19.

미 조 바이든 대통령 초청으로 공식 방문 중인 문재인 대통령은 20일 오후 워싱턴 국회의사당에서 낸시 펠로시 하원의장을 비롯한 하원 지도부와 만나 회담을 가졌다.

미 하원 펠로시 의장은 문재인 대통령을 이렇게 만나 게 돼 매우 큰 기쁘다고말하고 대한민국 대통령에 취임되시고 나서 얼마 안 됐을 때 모셨던 그때의 저의 큰 영광이 지금도 생생하게 생각이 난다고말하고, 이렇게 같은 자리에 모시게 돼서 너무 큰 영광 이라는 말로 문재인 대통령을 다시 만난 기쁨을 표현했습니다.

이어 펠로시 하원의장은 올해 문재인 대통령이 보낸 신년 인사 카드를 꺼내 보이면서 아주 예뻐서 간직하고 있다. 그 안의 내용에 인류의 평화와 번영을 위해 쉬지 않고 노력한다는 글도 감동적이었다고 표현하기도 했습니다.

이어 한국 문재인 대통령은 미 국회의사당에서 펠로시 하원의장과 일행 등을 만나 한미동맹 발전, 한반도 평화 협력 등을 위한 미 하원의회의 많은 지원을 당부하고, 코로나19 대응을 비롯해 다양한 현안에 대해 의견을 분분히 나누었다고 밝혔습니다.
